Problem Note 36161: The error "Invalid option value XMSn for SAS system option COMAMID" occurs when you rename the SASVXMS0 module to something other than SASVXMS
In SAS® 9.2, the z/OS Configuration Guide incorrectly states that you can add a numeric suffix nto the SASVXMS module and set the option COMAMID=XMSn. However, if you do that and you set the SAS option COMAMID= or COMAUX1= to a value other than XMS such as XMS9, SAS fails with the following error:
ERROR: Invalid option value xms9 for SAS option COMAMID.,
ERROR: (SASXKRIN): KERNEL RESOURCE INITIALIZATION FAILED.,
BPXP018I THREAD 1A599AC000000003, IN PROCESS 50334368, ENDED,
WITHOUT BEING UNDUBBED WITH COMPLETION CODE 000003E7, AND REASON CODE,
00000000.,
ERROR: Unable to initialize the SAS kernel.,
BPXP018I THREAD 1A61B96000000002, IN PROCESS 50334368, ENDED,
Starting in SAS 9.2, you can no longer use a suffix on the SASVXMS module. It must be renamed to SASVXMS.
The SAS®9 SASVXMS modules are backward compatible to SAS® 8.2. If you are running SAS 9.2 or later with XMS on the same system with a release prior to SAS 8.2, then those prior releases must use XMSn.

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
In SAS 9.2, the z/OS Configuration Guide implies that you can use a suffix for the SASVXMS module and set the option COMAMID=XMSn. If you set this option to a value such as XMS9, you receive the following error:
ERROR: Invalid option value XMS9 for SAS option COMAMID
